Our Founder - Lala Shriram

Sir Shri Ram, affectionately known as Lala Shri Ram, left an indelible mark on India’s industrial and philanthropic landscape. Born on April 27, 1884, his visionary contributions to education resonate to this day, shaping the educational landscape of the nation.

A pioneer in his field, Sir Shri Ram established iconic educational institutions that set the benchmark for excellence. Among his notable endeavors was the founding of the Commercial Education Trust, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revolutionizing vocational-oriented education.

The Trust’s inaugural project, the Commercial High School, laid the foundation for a transformative journey. From its humble beginnings in 1926, the institution evolved into an Intermediate College, then a degree college in 1930, and finally ascended to the status of a post-graduate College in 1934. Sir Shri Ram’s leadership as Chairman of the Governing Body from 1942 propelled the institution’s growth and reputation.

By 1948, the Commercial College, despite its relative youth compared to other Delhi University colleges, boasted the highest enrollment permitted under university regulations. In a defining moment of recognition, the institution was renamed “Shri Ram College of Commerce” in 1951, cementing its legacy as a beacon of academic excellence.

In homage to his beloved wife Phoolan Devi, fondly remembered as Lady Shri Ram, Sir Shri Ram extended his philanthropic vision by founding Lady Shri Ram College for Women in 1956, a testament to his commitment to women’s education and empowerment.

At Shri Ram Global School (SRGS) Ayodhya, we draw inspiration from the visionary spirit of Sir Lala Shri Ram, who believed that “Education is the key that will unlock the door to our greatness.” Guided by his timeless wisdom, we strive to cultivate a nurturing environment where every student can realize their full potential and embark on a journey of lifelong learning and success.
